Title: masm32 sdk unable to load
Post by: deeR44 on January 01, 2022, 06:19:13 PM
McAfee anti virus will not allow me to load masm32 SDK. It says that masm32ci.exe contains a virus and stops installation. What is going on? This is a brand new HP laptop running Windows 11 Pro and nothing else. Its new.

Get rid of McAffee and use a decent AV scanner. The standard Microsoft Win10 AV works fine. If you want independent AV scanning, download KVRT.EXE from Kaspersky, its probably the best available.

Hi deeR44,

That's a false positive report. Unfortunately, this is the common problem of many AV programs.

Thanks Hutch and vortex. But how do I delete McAfee AV? It's in two directories. Do I just remove them?

Remove it from Control Panel > Programs and Features.

If you use the standard Microsoft AV scanner, false positives are rare. You may need to turn the "User Account Control" (UAC) off as a development machine needs to be able to run things that a consumer machine will not allow.
