Title: The joys of Revo uninstaller
Post by: hutch-- on December 14, 2022, 06:30:38 PM
I downloaded a file for a graphics application, clicked NO for any bundleware and it installed an AV scanner, a VPN app and some other heap of crap behind the scenes. To manually remove all this chyte would have been a nightmare but with Revo Pro unistaller, it not only removed the crap but tracked down any left over junk as well.

You can get a free version of it that does most things, I paid for the pro version as it does a bit more.

Just to be careful, I ran Kaspersky's KVRT.EXE and nothing turned up so all is well.

When I install software and it doesn't work out well for one reason or another, I just reinstall my OS. It only takes a few minutes and goodbye software and any other changes (i.e., registry, other files, etc) that have been made by installing it.

If the software is useful and I'd like to keep using it, I create a backup of the current OS (with new new software) to image file. I don't keep any files on my OS drive, with the exception of a current project on my desktop - which I routinely back up the files on it (desktop). All other files are on an external drive.

Sounds like a reasonable system if your entire setup is small, try it with 30 terabytes of storage.
