Found this obscure rant (Schneier on Security, Aug 28, 2015 (https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2015/08/mickens_on_secu.html)) about paranoid, delusional programmers (well,...actually, security researchers), and thought you guys would find it amusing:
WARNING: It's got some bizarre voodoo in it,...:icon_eek:

Zen,
The point with these Mossad or NSA or GCHQ data collection mania is not that they are interested in your private sphere. They aren't, unless you become an influential person, say: President of the United States of America. Only in this rare case, they will start studying megabytes of very old emails that may contain delicate information that could be used to convince you of, ehm, something.
-
i don't think that's completely accurate
they can systematically look for patterns and red flags
just don't be a red flag - lol

Flagged words (http://www.businessinsider.com/nsa-prism-keywords-for-domestic-spying-2013-6)
-
Really wondering why Guppy is a flagged word...Is there a secret fish army somewhere?
-
Two that I noticed:
"Zen" - if you use this word, or name, a lot you're in trouble
"Retinal Fetish" - good name for a band
-
that one's probably in the list because of our suspicious forum member - lol
the one i don't get is iono sphere
ham radio operators talk about that every day
-
I wonder if they have flagged Slobberdan Bin Gaddafi yet as the combination of such a range of wicked malicious people would have to be illegal, immoral and fattening. ?
-
Create some email noise...
Place one or two searched words anywhere in every email - it'll create havoc with the agencies.
Say half the world sends a 'email' and reply a day... that's a lot of shyt to go through.
:icon_cool:
-
We should PGP-ed our emails as well then.
They (Mossad, NSA, etc) shouldn't be able to read them.
Or somehow... they are already capable of doing it?
:P
-
IIRC the NSA/CIA pounced on PGP as soon as they saw how good it was... they panicked big time.
The author in retaliation released it on the web, but they then threatened him with all sorts of 'nonsense' (he was a USA citizen), and PGP was taken off the net.
A weaker version was released sometime later... weaker maybe in the way the CIA/NSA now had a way of cracking it.
;)
-
I do remember when the Gov went after PGP..not sure what year it was,but made a LOT of noise on the web back then..

That's not the problem. This whole forum is already flagged - the Colosseum is crammed full of no-no words. So you can take it for granted that the NSA follows our conversations. Maybe one of our members sits somewhere in their headquarters.
But: Imagine in how many forums people talk about this. And how obvious it is that we are not planning a terrorist attack. By putting these bomb words into our posts, we are just creating work for some poor trainee who gets popup messages on his pc saying "new possible threat detected, please investigate". And he has to investigate if rr's and Hutch' loooooong philosophic posts constitute a significant danger for the United States of America. That's risky for our trainee, because he might be woken up by his boss when fallen asleep :icon_cool:
No, there are only two reasons why they are spying on us:
1. detect threats - real ones, people exchanging e-mails (not forum posts) with details on chemicals etc
2. collect valuable information on people who might become influential one day; again, e-mails are far more interesting, but equally interesting are visits to porn sites, especially if they reveal 'deviating' preferences.
-
yah- but we are pretty boring after a short while - lol
facebook, on the other hand, keeps them busy
billions upon billions of text snippets to look through - some perhaps even meaningful to them
-

Why bother? Simply send white noise. And disguise it as a very important email.
But I seriously doubt they check every email. Is more of a lets save everything in case we will need it later on.

It was a joke.
While I do use PGP/GPG daily for delivering import stuffs (usually source code),
I honestly don't really care whether "the big boys" are going to crack it or not.
Why? Because I'm not plotting anything against them.
If I did, well obviously I wouldn't be sitting comfortly in front of my laptop typing this post reply. :P

EDGAR,
Nice Work !!! (http://masm32.com/board/index.php?topic=4553.msg48771#msg48771)
How difficult would it be to write an app that would string together a number of these terms, and E-mail the message (NSA Spam) to random citizens ???
...It would probably start World War Three,...but who cares ???
..."Zen" - if you use this word, or name, a lot you're in trouble,...
:dazzled:...This, undoubtedly explains the incredible variety of Death Threats that I receive on a daily basis,...:dazzled:
Terms I think should make the list:
- Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher
- Led Zeppelin
- Large Hadron Collider
- The Pope
- Every Word Posted in All of Onan's Junk Posts
:icon_eek:...But, seriously,...it was the stuff that didn't make the list that I find most ominous,...:icon_eek:
...And,...what about this: WANK (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wank) ???

...And,...what about this: WANK (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wank) ???
Now you've done it... ;)
Hutch's website is now on the red list...

Too late, I havew already mentioned Slobberdan Bin Gaddafi.

I feel so much better,...all this time, I thought I'd DOOMED the MASM Forum with this:
