Even though I have been away from assembly for a long time, I would like to see if assembly would be useful in regards to other operating systems.
I am rusty, but if others have some time, I am game.
I thought that drivers were at the lowest level of programming before the operating system even starts.
As an aside, I will have neck surgery on Monday to correct over 30 years of chronic pain.
I will have C-5-C6 and C6-C7 fused. They will use sterilized cadaver bone and titanium screws.
Best regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Best of luck with the surgery.

Thanks so much Hutch. I
feel that G*$ has answered a 30 year prayer.

Wishing the best for you - let's hope this resolves the issue and you can finally be pain free.
Also, you'll be able to claim you're a cyborg ...and suddenly the interest in assembly and alternative operating systems makes sense.

Thanks for the links.
It looks like the neck surgery failed.

Andy,
With surgery you may have to give it some time to work, never give up and try and maximise the result you get.
-
It looks like the neck surgery failed.
Sorry to see that, Andy. I hope they can turn it into success somehow.

I tried with linux assembly, but it is harder than Windows assembly.
I do have some good news regarding my neck fusion surgery.
The surgeon fused my C5-C7 cervical vertebra. They used titanium screws and sterilized cadaver bones.
At first I thought it failed to relieve my pain.
I have been doing physical therapy and it is helping with the pain.
I had to go to the Emergency Room 3 times in one month for the pain.
But my pain is lessening. :-)
Take care,
Andy
