So many people will buy a cheap laser printer with moving parts
when there are LED printers available with NO moving parts.
Can be had for $200 to $300. Ex: oki has them.
Would appreciate hearing some opinions or am I all wet?

They still have numerous moving parts, but fewer in comparison to laser printers; full rows are printed at once instead of running across each row. And they should be less delicate as they don't require the precise alignment a laser does.
But other than that, I think they work in about the same way.

Thank you for responding Tedd.
I should have been more specific. I was referring only to
the OLED tech in the LED printer. As you quoted the LED
portion prints full rows without any moving parts.
I really don't see how the old tech has survived with this
advancement in laser tech.

truth is, i would really like to have a dot-matrix printer with a ribbon cartridge
back then, a ream of paper was less than $20 and a ribbon was $4

sure - i couldn't print color pictures,
but i could afford to print out program listings or text documents all day long

When I buy my next printer it will be a Led Laser. Black only and multifunction.
I could care less about color. This should bring the cost down a bit and the cost
of the cartridges. Sick and tired of the HP rip off ink business.
