hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys

Hiberfil.sys is the hibernation file in the root directory. Wiffies computer bit the dust today because
of this and the "Pagefile.sys" and "boot/bcd.log".
I went on the Microsoft site and tried to find an answer for this but as usual no luck.
I did see a lot of messages about deleting  "hiberfil.sys" but hesitate to do this. Anyway
her computer is down and I can not delete it if I tried.

In the mean time I'm going to use last weeks backup to restore the computer.
It should work but does not solve this problem.
Thoughts please or where to read for a solution.

you can do some repair, if you take her drive and put it in your machine to work on it
there are ways to restore from the Windows\Config folder
and, you can even access registry hives on her machine by loading them into yours
all that is somewhat advanced and tedious, Jack

EDIT: i said "tedious" above
a better word might be "exacting"
there isn't a lot of room to make mistakes before you'll be reformatting and starting from scratch

also, editing a registry hive is not for everyone
a good knowledge of how the registry works is very helpful

as for deleting those files, that should be ok
the OS creates new ones automatically

if you don't feel confident doing so, you can just rename or move the files
all else fails, you can put them back
but, that shouldn't really be necessary for those 2 files
