I read this yesterday on YAHOO. He is a good Cop. But there are also Bad Cops who, for no valid reason, will try to pin anything on you, believe me, I have run into them.

You are right.

I had a law enforcement officer (LEO) pull me over.

He said I was playing my music too loud, and this was in the daytime.

Another officer next to him said, "It's O.K."

I apologized, and he was happy.

i saw in the news where a female cop in utah was caught falsifying DUI's
the problem is, they have quotas and they are "commended" for high arrest/conviction rates
that is not "protect and serve", by any definition
another problem is that local governments make revenues on tickets and fines
they should take enough to cover the costs, certainly
the police departments that i know of seem to have more money than the state does - lol

My case was a sad situation, but certainly uncalled for.

I was just leaving the base (in 1965) driving my Porsche. I got on the highway and was driving the speed limit (you don't want tickets when you are in the military). This California Highway Patrolman gets on my tail and follows me all the way into town (about 7 miles). As we travel down the road, we are passed by 20 or 30 cars driving 75, not 65. As I pull off the highway entering the town, he flips his lights on and pulls me over. He searches the car and finds nothing, I am sober, so he writes me up for driving 66 in a 65 mile zone (no way, with him on my tail I had kept it to 64 and my speedo is accurate - I rally with this car). I talk with the Base legal and they say there is nothing I can do but pay the fine. Turns out that the patrolman had his daughter killed in a sports car accident a few months before, and he is on the warpath against anyone driving a sports car. Others had driven 60 and not 65 and got written up for blocking the highway by driving too slow - go figure.
