Just in case someone else has trouble with Defraggler ending with a large unfragmented
result at the end of defragging. This problem occurred on a 64-bit computer and not
on a 32-bit computer.  I have 6G of ram and windows 7 set the Pagefile at 6100mb.
This did not work. Changing it to 2 1/2 times the size of ram solved the unfragmented problem.

Unless Windows 7 is a big memory hog, with your 6 Gb of Ram, you should not need 6100 Mb of Ram.

I use 400 Mb for my PageFile  with 3 Gb or Ram with XP.

I have found MyDefrag v4.3.1 to be very good.

Hi shankle,

A practical solution is to reboot the computer with a Windows Preinstallation Environment ( PE ) disc and delete pagefile.sys. Run Defraggler to defragment the drive.

Hi Magnum and Vortex,
HP doesn't supply a disk anymore. so I can't follow your instructions.
From what I have been reading deleting the Pagefile is a nono.
Anyway it's working fine now on the 64-bit computer.
Windows xp and 7 are two different birds.

Hi shankle,

you could try to install your Windows 7 onto an USB drive. It's not easy but possible.

You have to know the facts before you can distort them.

Hi shankle,

This is not true. Deleting the pagefile does not have any negative effect. ( deleting it in a Win PE environment. )

Imagex.exe is Microsoft's imaging tool and it excludes the pagefile file by default :

yes - nothing new about deleting the pagefile
you may lose a few settings or whatever, but it shouldn't cause major issues
