To download MS MASM V8.0 I need Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition

Tried to download MS MASM 8.0 and install it but it won't install because I don't have visual c++ 2005 express edition installed. I called the MicroSoft store and was told that it is no longer available. I have MASM 6.0 and thousands of lines of DOS code programmed for it but it doesn't support Windows 32. I'd like to reprogram some very useful programs using a MASM32 compiler. Any suggestions would be welcome?

MASM version 6.1 + supports PE programs
if you installed the masm32 package, it comes with version 6.14

Hi Will,

as Dave wrote, you should download and install the MASM32 package. Another alternative is jWasm, a nearly 99% MASM compatible assembler.

- as Dave wrote, you must download the Masm32 package anyway (more), so the included ML 6.14 will be available.

- as Gunther wrote, JWasm is an excellent alternative.

- if you want a recent ML version, follow Erol's instructions

Open that setup.exe with 7-Zip.
Extract that .cab from there
Extract file from cab and rename it.
