You forget that Russia has a world class nuclear deterrent and no-one will get rid of them. The sanctions are failing, both Europe and the US are buying their resources under the table and if their enemies don't pay in roubles, they don't get the resources.

I agree that Selensky & Biden seem to have little interest in negotiations. The USA can sell grain, LNG and weapons at exaggerated prices, so they clearly profit from prolonging the war. What Selensky can win, I'm not sure; maybe he hopes to win over Russia, thus not losing the Donbass region. Or he believes that the EU will grant Ucraine membership in the near future...

What I wanted to demonstrate, though, is that Putin can lean back and enjoy extra slooooow negotiations, as long as the whole of Europe continue to pay gas and oil through their nose thanks to the war hystery.
