Does anyone else use Opera Browser?
« on: October 07, 2022, 11:50:21 AM »
I am running Windows 7 and use opera web browser. I have this issue that opera says "Would you like to make opera your default web browser?" or something similar. Clicking yes has no effect. It will ask me all the time for this and its getting really annoying.
I cannot find any opera setting that helps. Does anyone know the registry key where the default browser is set?
Regards, zedd.

I use it. Like some things about it, hate others; found Opera to be the least bad choice out there (among Firefox, Chrome and Windows browser, forget the name). One nice thing is the "click on tab, go to top of page" feature.

Go to "Settings"; there's an item there to make Opera the default. Works for me (Windows 7-64 here).

I used RegShot before and after clicking on "Make Default" in settings.
Nothing in the registry changed regarding web browsers.  Lemme look for any Internet Explorer entries and track this key down that needs to be changed.  :undecided:

Like a lot of software, you just have to beat it over the head a couple-three times until it gets the message ...

I wonder if, when opera updates it is a full update or just a patch?
Anyway I reinstalled the latest version even though it supposedly was the latest in the first place.  :eusa_snooty:
and that took care of the problem mentioned in the first post.

Long time ago i used it. In update it created a new folder with version string ?
Later i started using Vivaldi, as it also based Chrome-code and didn't have bloated features.
May the source be with you

Annoying when liked/got used to gui,new version change that
Less bloat/spam on webpages: lynx only reads text, not animated ads

Hi Magnus
I like opera myself. It is a heavy browser (look in task manager) but I like that it has a built in ad blocker.

My Win7-64 notebook is a bit weak on memory: 6MB. I tried several browsers in the past, and was a Firefox fan for many years. After lots of fights with high memory use and too many disk writes, I chose to try M$ Edge some months ago. So far it behaves well.
