Wow, this place is but a short drive up the coast from where I live.

It is an interesting little village that has a close community that is preserving it's past heritage in many ways.
The area was used as a serious port for both Huge trees and Coal but is a delightful spot with a glorious long beach and headland areas.

Was unaware images like this were visible.

I have a photo (taken during the day) of this exact spot and view :) ... must find and post it :)

Punch line... I can see that image, therefore it is visible.

But seriously...
Probably need the right equipment to get a shot like that, camera mounted on a telescope?, or using a high dollar specialty lense? And a sturdy tripod for sure.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯   :azn:

  Yes,... obviously, I simply meant, being able to observe the Milky-Way so clearly from there.
It is a somewhat isolated and light free part of the coast :)

Also who don't want learn to use DLSR, cannot take those photos.
For example, in old age people don't see colours in dim environment, but their DSLR see them.
Once i took a photo with Canon DSLR on tripod from star, but northern lights was in final photo, not star.

And lens was just a Canon EF-S 18 - 135 older model Zoom.
CANON EF-S 18-135MM F/3.5-5.6 IS

Probably still a cool looking photo.
I've seen the northern lights only once in my life, while I was still in Chicago. During that event, it is said that the northern lights were visible as far south as northern Mexico. Early to mid 2000's I think, but I can't remember exactly what year that was. I only remember where I was working at the time. (On night shift)

Edit
I see you have added the pic. Nice. Rather 'other-worldly'.
