I don't own a smartphone (because I would go berserk if my phone was actually smarter than I am).
...But, I ran across this article: A Phone That Lies for You, as a link from: Falsifying Evidence on a Smart Phone, Bruce Schneier on Security, June 2014.

...So, you Mafia Dudes might want to think about this: Android Anti-Forensics at the Operating System Level, Sept. 2012

I don't own a mobile phone, don't want the CIA, MOSSAD. NSA, KGB, MI5/6 tracking me.  :P

I mean HAY, do you want some chyte_box working for the public service 5 years down the track while having their finger in the international surveillance pie accusing you of using naughty words about our illustrious prime minister, defending the moose in Alaska against Sarah Dumbcluck or having once supported Barack Obama ?

Hi zen,

Those are interesting links. I'll read the paper later.
Anyway, this is the consequence of Android being an open source product.
Anyone can modify it, whether for good or bad purposes.  ;)

Zen,

interesting links. Thank you for providing.

But one point to criticize: Jochen has nothing to do with the Mafia. I mean that seriously.

i own a cell phone - a simple one
i'd like to get rid of it, but i have to keep it because the family members are getting old
never know when someone might need to go to the hospital

otherwise.....
the phone ringing usually means someone (family/friends) wants something repaired
and i am not fond of it - lol
another reason for starting a business - i can tell them i'm too busy

I love my 2006 Motorola little bar of soap sized phone.  Cost me $30 back then.  Barely qualifies as a dumb phone, but does everything I need (makes phone calls).  That and I just load $100 worth of tracfone minutes on it once a year,  Amazing that most smartphone owners spend that much every month on their phones!

Red Green, "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."

what a load of crock - lol
being handy is a curse - not a blessing
if you're not handsome, oh well

I have found that being tech savvy does at time make people think you are their own personal techy. One friend woke me up at midnight because his computer went down. I had to explain that if he was not paying me,I was NOT on call for him at any hour. I like helping people, but they do tend to think you have nothing better to do(Like sleep) when they(and this is almost always what happened) screwed the system themselves by doing something stupid.
