Short Post ...
« on: February 04, 2015, 01:25:41 PM »
Having observed and participated in the MASM32 subculture for a sufficient period, I would like to proffer the following two dozen admonitory remarks, garnered via the "hard knocks" of real-world experience, which, while pertinent and intellectually stimulating, aren't applicable to programming per se. Hence, my posting here where "anything goes".

1. Keep posts short or they won't be read

2 thru 24: N/A

It's not a matter of short or long when one needs to describe a problem with the required details. Sometimes, we see here members asking for help without providing the necessary details. Those short posts does not help at all.

@vortex: you're right. Some (not all, by any means) help-seekers expect you to read their minds, it seems. Best (if possible) is to provide the actual code causing trouble. However I was talking about my own posts; and I don't ask for help.

@anunitu: Here's your answer: I shoveled snow all morning, and my posterior (and other extremities) "Felt" frozen solid. However I checked it carefully, and it wasn't frozen solid; still had some give to it. You're welcome, in, uh, retreat.

Consider it a symptom of assembler programmers: the same people who can barely concentrate for long enough to type whole words for instructions - "move" is obviously too long, just put "mov"; "subtract" is far too long, let's go with "sub"; "no-op", more like no way, "nop" is a whole letter shorter!

rrr,

Sounds like you need a solar powered snow plow. Have you had any luck with the downed power lines and other services being restored ?

Yes, everything's back to normal; more snow predicted for tomorrow and Sunday, though! We've had about 3 ft in 2 installments. 6 inches or less is negligible, but multi-feet is tough. U can ride a horse OK, but wagons git bogged down somethin' awful. Wal, gotta go chop more wood fer the stove - the missus is makin flapjacks fer brekfist ...
