I have started to use BING recently and it performs OK and with less restrictions than Google search.

Use any search engine to search for internet search engines:

Google, Yahoo!, Baidu,  Bing,  Yandex, Ask, AOL

from wikipidia:
Quote
DuckDuckGo will search anonymously. Find instantly. DuckDuckGo is a search engine that does not track you and, has more instant answers and less spam/clutter.
duckduckgo.com

WebCrawlers Offers a single source to search the Web, images, audio, video, news from Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and many more search engines.
www.webcrawler.com

Bing is a search engine that brings together the best of search and people in your social networks to help you spend less time searching and more time doing.

Ask.com is the #1 question answering service that delivers the best answers from the web and real people - all in one place.
www.ask.com

My own bias is Google:  it provides information sites.
Bing tends to provide more product sites.
I like DuckDuckGo.

Use the search engines to search for the specialized search engines that may be available

Another alternative is Ixquick, which I'm using since 2 years.

Get your facts first, and then you can distort them.

VAN,
An awful lot of Internet search engines use GOOGLE for their results. The other biggies are: Yahoo and Ask.
Here is a huge list of known search engines: List of Search Engines, Wikipedia
An excellent site for information about Search Engines is: Search Engine Watch

I personally planned to switch everything to google or mozzila firefox product. Windows tend to messed up with your systems. Even now the windows task manager did not given a reliable result anymore. My software CPU usage dropped to 18% but the frame rate is still not going up, and not just that, the fan still running fast, they are cheating by tampering the user interface. It seems Im going to say goodby to MS product. China product quality might not reliable, but it seems its all the same, no product is reliable, so, why pick the outragoeous price?
