I had an experience with a woman where I went through multiple cycles of fixing her system, gratis, each time after she had screwed it up. At one point the HDD mysteriously died, and under questioning she finally admitted that she had kicked the system. I was surprised that a woman would do such a thing. I replaced the drive and installed an OEM Windows XP, but a few weeks later after she took a shotgun to her boyfriend, hitting him twice and putting him in the hospital, I decided that trying to get paid for my expenses was probably more risk than it was worth :)

Well Microsoft, here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten us into.

Wow, how could you help such an insane and irresponsible person, Michael?  :eusa_naughty:

I didn’t know her. Her boyfriend asked me to help her, and while he had known her for a long time and knew that she had major problems, he didn’t tell me any of this. I guess he thought it was no big deal.

Sorry Dave, I guess I didn’t make that clear. She shot him with a 20-gauge pump shotgun loaded with some smaller size of buckshot. He was aware that a direct, center hit at close range was likely to be fatal, so he was dodging and weaving “like his life depended on it”. Although she fired repeatedly, she was such a bad shot that she hit him only twice, once across the back with the edge of the pattern, and once in the thigh with most of the pattern. He explained to me that as he was dodging he was counting the shots, because he knew how many shells he had put in the magazine when he loaded it for her the day before (and no, I’m not making this part up). When he got hit in the thigh he went down, knowing that there was one more shell in the magazine. Fortunately for him, she decided to leave at that point. No charges were filed because it turned out that he was there (in her apartment) in violation of a restraining order. So, as you have undoubtedly realized, he was no genius.

Well I don’t know what state you are from Michael but pump shotguns are limited to 3 shells unless the plug has been removed which in many states is illegal. If the plug was removed it may hold up to 5.

Two shots, one to the back the other to the hip, is that correct? I’m surprised he didn’t bleed to death within a few minutes. Not to question your stories truthfulness there Michael but if true it should have made the local online papers. Do you have a link to that shooting event?

If your story is true that moron deserved what he got and is very lucky to be alive!

NPNW stands for No Pay No Work.

I no longer work on any ones computer but my own. I've had too many people not pay, or be abusive like what you have experienced. I got tired of busting my ass even with companies that would not pay after fixing things.  So, they can go to sinsi, just make sure that you get paid for your work. I don't expect things for free there is always a cost, and I don't expect people to do things for free. I always pay, and always leave a tip.  I do other things for free to help people out when they are in need, but that is emergency car broke down type thing, or carry groceries up stairs, etc.  Something where you don't get blamed for their stupidity, rude manners, or ignorance.

Used to be where people would help each other out... now its expected you do everything for free. Nope back to software development. While the customer may not pay me, the advertising will. If they buy the product then I get paid up front. If they didn't buy it , I don't have to deal with them. If its stolen then there are other avenues to pursue.

Both shots just grazed him. On his back a few pellets entered and then exited the skin. The shot to the thigh essentially took a hunk out of the outer edge of his Vastus lateralis, about midway between the hip and knee. There were no major arteries in the vicinity of the wounds, all of the pellets exited the wounds, the back wounds healed quickly and the thigh wound in a few months. I doubt that the shooting was reported in the media because his wounds where nowhere close to life threatening, and judging from what I was told of the events leading up to the shooting, I think the local police at that point were beyond fed up with both of them.

It never ceases to amaze me..... people can be sooo stupid.
Nothing like resolving your differences with weapons

If you think of it.. those who advocate guns..etc..
.. are really of lower intellect, as they have no ability to think but only to act.  :icon13:
