2016 Top Programming Languages
« on: July 27, 2016, 09:20:53 AM »
Here is IEEE Spectrum’s third interactive Ranking of the Most Popular Programming Languages,...in the Galaxy,...
The Top Programming Languages 2016

...What !!?? MASM Assembly Language didn't make the 'Top Ten',...I can't believe it !!
I'm just taking a wild guess here,...no extraterrestrials were surveyed for this article. It is, therefore, invalid. Just ask RRR314159,...

Eliminating web and mobile applications assembly become Top Ten!!

I'm sure there is the survey for "galactical and intergalactical forums" but I don't see now.

In IEEE Xplore assembly is number 2.

Interesting list.
VHDL is on position 31, and following with verilog and others I.C. builders. Arduino is growing, passed assembly language.
Python is the most easy language to be learned, I have learned python in one week, and of course, I forgot everything about, but justifies its position.
The strange thing is about actionscript position.

I don't have see klingon and greys into that list.

edited- cource to course

OI am yet to be convinced that scripting is a programming language.

That's not bad considering it's a specialised occupation.
I've only touched it a little bit... should do a lot more in the near future.

Mmmmm arduino IS NOT a language, is a platform, who is programed in C, so it shouldn't be on the list,  besides 8 of the 10 languages were used in enterprises, where programmers rarely chose what language to use, as it was chosen by management.

OI am yet to be convinced that scripting is a programming language.

Some weeks ago I launched a Scripting languages thread. It turned out to be a pretty emotional subject

In the old forum we used to argue sometimes about people who do no more than invoking API calls, and that this wasn't "real" assembler - too simple, too easy, whatever. I had some sympathy for this line of argument, but otoh many people simply need a job to be done, and you can't do any real task without interaction with the OS. In a way, as the Masm32 community, we can be proud that assembly is still in some "Top Programming Languages" ranking, albeit with a little cheating...

Hello sir K_F, I have interest too in getting into this field, I have done some eletronichs on past.
Being able to create our own processor/microcontroler instructions and design. I have checked some little projects and sounds a good challenge. But I'm a noob into this field into this moment of my life. Need start reading from the ground. But will be the path that I will follow into future.
I was thinking about this these days from assembler perspective, I think that assemblers/compilers does not optimize boolean directives used on hll using Karnaugh map.

Yes sir Carlos, arduino was not the best word choice, we can program arduino microcontroler using C/C++/assembly.

Arduino microcontroller does not exist.
Arduino is a microcontroller platform built around a Atmel microcontroller ( mostly an ATmega type )

Yes sir Siekmanski, maybe my english language generated ambiguity, something like "we can program PC processors using c/c++/assembly".

Have a look at this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-programmable_gate_array, down at the bottom of the page are manufacturer listings.
On their websites are all the different products and dev kits.
It's a new 'language' and a lot of reading to do.. but it's exciting stuff.
The ARM processors are made from these concepts.. and you can do anything with the chips.

thanks for the link, I was reading about these things.
Intention is to do something like whats Agner is proposing with their CRISC, 'ForwardCom'. So, if I can't do that on chip at least I can try to create an assembler. Or maybe I get disappointed  .Sounds really challenge. I will review all concepts about haf and full adder, flip-flops and latches, mux and demux, de morgan, ... .
Appears that marketing leaders is done by xilinx and altera. I was reading that Intel buy Altera.
