Child marriage
« on: December 01, 2022, 12:53:04 AM »
Not sure if it's really true that the Prophet Muhammad married a 7-year old girl in the year 620 A.D. (Aisha: "classical sources converge on Aisha being six or seven years old at the time of her marriage, and nine at the consummation"), but a recent April 21, 2021 study confirms that five 10-year old girls got married between 2000 and 2018, "often covering up what would otherwise be considered a sex crime". The "criminal code prohibits sex with a child age 12 to 15 but specifically exempts those who first marry the child. This incentivizes child marriage and implicitly endorses child rape". Welcome to the 21st Century

So whole world have to just live with that.
Those countries, who wanted foreigners out of of that country, are partially quilty too.
China is a pragmatic country and needs minerals, so Xi won't worry human rights ?
May the source be with you

You could try a council of elders in northern Albania where they decide if murdering someone is acceptable or not. There are anomolies in law around the world based off different cultural backgrounds and values and any judgement by one culture of another is culturally loaded.

From my own culture ( I am from OZ), any form of exploitation of children is unacceptable and forced marriages of young children is direct exploitation. The circumstances would have to be well understood but there are cases where it is a means of protecting an underaged child. You have examples in European history of royalty with arranged marriages between children and sometimes between a much older person and a child.

Not a simple task but the conditions of child marriage need to be well understood and well controlled in cultures that allow it.

There are things in other religious texts that are more disturbing.
There are politicians pushing that the whole child thing as ok.
The world has gone crazy.
