Changing the name AGAIN
« on: May 21, 2017, 04:41:29 AM »
We've decided to change it from HASM to UASM (Unified Assembler).

The main reason is that HASM is the name of a terrorist organization which we're DEFINITELY not affiliated with, and they take up all the Google rank!

Sites/packages/Git/documents are all updated to reflect this change, otherwise all is the same.

Thanks!
John

Hi John,

Checking your site, the name of the assembler is yet Hasm. I guess the reflection of the changes will take some time.

Here are some tests :

Hi Vortex,
Johnsa has forgotten to change the link to UASM page here on forum, this is the proper link: http://www.terraspace.co.uk/uasm.html

I still like the old one rather than any suggested ones. Before you had something unique in the name, now it's common like dozen of others. No offense intended at all by saying this (please don't get me wrong). it's solely my personal feeling.

I can echo that...

Won't be easy to find a good alternative name. I got used to it :bgrin:

Pro:      HJWasm cares for Habran, John, Japheth and the Watcom gang
Contra: The name is not sexy enough for Oprah's and Letterman's shows :(

Besides, googling "HJWasm" (with quotes) will definitely show you valid hits only. Try the same for UASM...

Hi,

look at how NSA poetically calls its own programs  In universities, professors also like to call their programming languages from the poetic side  :P
