Sad to hear, I hope we will go again soon. Armstrong was before my time but still an inspiration as a child. I regret at 30 that in my childhood there were no other such pioneers.... i will regret even more if there are none in my children's generation!

I am sorry to hear that Neil Armstrong has passed away. I still remember watching the first moon landing live and it was a special moment in time. I happens to everyone eventually but at least he made a mark in history.

Merkx made a mark in history but it wasn't without suspicious and he have paid (bad health) for this.Poulidor was the eternal second and has continued biking.
There is no more harder than "Le tour de france ".
Amstrong was easy here ???????.

One of the articles I read stated that Neil Armstrong’s heart rate was around 150 during the manual-control part of the landing. So he was apparently under a lot of stress, doing something that must have been very difficult, under conditions that could not have been duplicated in training, and he succeeded.

that was probably a combination of excitement and stress
the excitement - "wow - i am landing on the moon !!!"
the stress - "if i screw this up, the whole world will be watching it on live TV" - lol

I was 8 years old looking at the the moon through binocs at the time of the landing.
We were all listening on the radio
I saw a strange red tinge around the edge of the moon, which was probably a light refraction, but I thought to myself... I can see the rocket motors
The funny things we think....

As for the other armstrong, it looks like he's about to be stripped of all/most of his cycling titles - better late than never, we don't like cheaters  ;)
Now they must just bring out Plausible Guilty verdict for polititians and other low life
