I am trying to speed up the bootup time on my daughters laptop.

I attached a list of programs that are open in Task Manager.

I am pretty knowledgeable about the essential ones needed.

Thanks,

That is what I commonly do:
1. remove all programs from msconfig/Systemstart except the AV
2. let the end-user test the computer
3. reactivate programs that the user miss

MREAL macros - when you need floating point arithmetic while assembling!

sinsi

1. what qWord said
2. change power option to high performance
3. buy an SSD

you can google all those EXE's and see what they are
honestly, eliminating all of the extras may not speed up the boot process all that much

personally, i prefer to run without the "auto-scan" type AV's
they slow things down a lot - if i get some malware, i can usually get rid of it
but - it's hard to tell that to a non-geek type user, because it leaves them unprotected

Computer uses MS Forefront Endpoint Protection and most buttons are greyed out.

There is only one user that I can log on to. So not sure if it has admin rights. I stopped the program and restarted it with a Runas admin but buttons stayed greyed out.

Outta here,
