I have just installed Visual Studio 2019 and all of the 64 bit MASM stuff is working correctly on the old box. I currently have a 2 x 120 mm fan liquid cooler temporarily mounted off the back of the box which is working OK but with external mounting, I can run bigger so I have ordered a 3 x 120 mm cooler which I will have to mount properly.

Having the whole cooler out in the open air seems to work well as you are not pulling air from inside the case and what I am chasing is a drop in temperature when thrashing the CPU.

Current testing on all core at 100% is peaking around 60c and with the summer coming up we regularly get temperature in the middle 30c range with a few days in February topping 40c and I am hoping that extra cooling will keep everything going in the real heat.

Hutch, don't you have lower temp in rooms below ground?
Curious to test inside a old cold food storage room, isolated with earth, so it looks like a tiny hill, that we had here
Climate here has slowly changed to warmer summers,so it's more common we sometimes have 30+c days here,so it might be worth invest in good liquid cooling

Magnus,

It would be very hard to do in a 140 year old town house, my computers live upstairs and while it not hotter than other parts of the house, we have hot summers and the back room where I mainly work, heats up a bit in the middle afternoon. We had one really hot day some years ago, 45c which equalled the 1939 record.

These old houses are double brick and they are always cooler inside than the outside temperature. What you have is similar to a really hot inland place in OZ where they mine opals. They all live underground as the surface temperatures reach 50c.

I think the UCI protocol is at the moment the standard. Maybe you can incorporate it into your program?
You have to know the facts before you can distort them.
