For some reason Alan Parsons sing reminded me of the intro of the Greatest American Hero, the clumsiest superhero in history , but no, its singer was Joey Scarbury.

Emerson Lake & Palmer - The Three Fates (Studio Version)

You really needed decent sound equipment to play this properly, pipe organ from the Royal Albert Hall, Emerson was a genuine fiend when it came to keyboard, the second "fate" is a masterpiece.

Great music indeed

ELP's Pictures were my first contact with classical music. I was perhaps 14 or 16 years old, I don't remember exactly, and up to this point I had always detested classical music. Now I have a collection of over 100 classical CDs, plus an equal number of mostly progressive rock discs.

Ah, Baba Yaga, that's Mussorgsky. I love the Russians: Tchaikovsky, natch, Mussorgsky, Borodin, Rimsky-Korsakov, but also Prokofiev, Shostakovich.

Check out this performance of Shostakovich's 10th Symphony by a youth orchestra from Venezuela, conducted by the (now-superstar, music director of the LA Phil) Gustavo Dudamel--high-school kids!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKXQzs6Y5BY

Here's a more accessible, earlier piece of theirs, from back home in Caracas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkeIcuSC4A0. I love this piece.

That's the stuff!
