I have read in numerous sites that a DSL splitter will increase DSL speed.

Can someone confirm that ?

How are you connecting your modem/router to the phone line otherwise?

All the splitter does is filter the lower frequencies for the phone, and the higher frequencies for the modem.
So, there will be less noise on the modem line, which would increase your speed compared to having more noise (if that was a problem.)

It's recommended to have a splitter on all phone sockets, not just the one with your modem connected. And if you want the best speed, you should have your modem connected to the main socket (any other sockets will be extensions from this.)

Andy,

as Tedd already mentioned: a splitter is necessary to split the telephone signal from the DSL signal.

You have to know the facts before you can distort them.

Directly, if it's a UNE circuit.  DSL can be had with or without telephone service.  If you've got a pure data DSL, a splitter won't do anything for you.

That's true, but in most cases comes DSL together with the telephone signal on the same line.

My DSL and my voice line are on the same cord.

I have a Suttle line conditioner on it as well.
