I am thinking to putting Linux on Wiffies computer.
Does anyone know if Gmail will work on Linux?????

This way I will only have security problems with 1 computer.
Both of us are running Windows 7 pro 32 and 64 bit OSs.
Thanks for your opinions....

Vortex

Hi shankle,

In the Linux environment, you can use Firefox or Mozilla Thunderbird to access Gmail :

Obviously, Donald Trump is a security nightmare, but why Windows 10 specifically? Linux is a bit safer because malware writers don't see a good reason to attack an OS with such a tiny market share (1%), but so far Windows 10 has not become known as susceptible to viruses and trojans...

To Vortex: Thank you for the links.
I will try Geary and Pclinuxos to see what luck I have.

To JJ: Windows 10 is extremely invasive. I don't feel that Microsoft has any right to invade my computer.

I fully agree :t
Maybe one day they'll offer a version that isn't co-financed by selling your consumption habits to third parties. It will cost 20 bucks extra, of course 8)

I'm afraid that web search engines play first part in "selling your consumption habits to third parties" ... or maybe browsers do it

I used thunderbird to access gmail,BUT now gmail will not allow Thunderbird because it is not secure enough it seems.

Yeah, that horse left the barn long ago.  The OS is the least of the problems anymore.

Got Gmail working in Linux Ubuntu Mate using firefox - sort of.
It is on wiffies puter and I got strict orders to put Windows 7 back on.
How's that for forward thinking :(
Wait till something happens to Windows 7 - then she will want it yesterday.
Women's logic I guess.

I like win7,but you may be right that almost anything past winxp may be bad. why I stayed on win 2000 for so long.

hutch--

Jack,

Never argue with the managing director, re-install Win7 64 and keep a good eye on the auto updates so it does not try to update it to Win10.

I'm a slow learner Hutch. I still think I am the boss of this company
